Key responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage.

  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients according to specifications.

  • Prepare and cook food in line with recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists.

  • Prepare cold food items as required.

  • Operate kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.

  • Test food to confirm proper cooking and monitor quality throughout preparation.

  • Set up and dismantle workstations efficiently.

  • Serve food in appropriate portions using correct serving equipment.

  • Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, including tables, utensils, knives, and equipment.

  • Verify and maintain correct temperatures of food and kitchen appliances.

General expectations

  • Comply with all company policies, as well as safety and security procedures.

  • Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate manager.

  • Complete all required safety training and certifications.

  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards.

  • Safeguard confidential and proprietary information and protect company assets.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues.

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships within the team.

  • Support team objectives and respond appropriately to colleagues’ concerns.

  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and expectations.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or entire work shifts.

  • Perform movements such as reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and handle items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

  • Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Preferred qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • Work experience: Minimum of 1 year of related culinary or kitchen experience.

  • Supervisory experience: Not required.

  • License or certification: Not required.
